Jesus was a Capricorn – my cover of a Kristofferson favorite

Kris Kristofferson has certainly written some great songs. This one may not rank technically as high as some others, but it remains one of my favorites to sing. And since we’re just closing another Christmas season, why not sing about Jesus?

On his album, Kristofferson annotated this song with “(owed to John Prine)” and many think he was referring to Prine’s “Grandpa was a Carpenter” song.  But I think he was ALSO referring to Prine’s “Everybody” (needs somebody that they can talk to), my cover of which, you’ll find on my Youtube channel here: http://youtu.be/Us36WdIkQR0
or in this Easter blog post from April 2012

I did the core of this song “live” – slide guitar, harmonica, and lead vocal, all at once. That’s like rub-your-tummy-pat your-head for a performer.  I laid down a “canned” drum loop and added bass and back-up vocals in an over-dub. But the core is live. I video recorded as I laid down the mic and guitar tracks simultaneously.

One more note: This was a beast to produce because I am struggling to learn iMovie 10.0.1
I discovered, upon seeking help, that I’m not the only one. Happy New Year everyone.
